This investment strategy supposedly aims to maximize long-term gains by analyzing companies across several categories not available on a spreadsheet, such as how companies are progressing toward “Net Zero” climate goals or how companies respond to social justice movements.

However, as ESG continues to infiltrate all aspects of American life, it is imperative that people are aware of the subjective and political nature of this rating system. With ESG, activist-investors often identify an agenda-driven problem and then solve it to align with their shade of politics.
